Kristiansund, 1987. Fourteen year old Kristina is forced to play the flute in the school band by her mum, but she loves dancing and takes classes behind her mother's back.

When she is caught she runs away to the town’s ”Young Disco”, where she falls in love with Felix, last year’s winner of the ”Disco King”- title. Kristina decides to join the competition to become ”Disco Queen”. But is she good enough? And is this what she really wants?
